James B. DuHamel, DDS

James B. DuHamel, DDS graduated from the University of California Santa Barbara in 1969 with a degree in Zoology and graduated with honors from Northwestern University Dental School in 1973. He maintained a general practice in Sunnyvale, California from 1973 to1989. Dr. DuHamel currently practices at DuHamel Family Dentistry in Valley Springs, California, recently celebrating 25 years of service. Dr. DuHamel has had extensive education in TMJ, sleep apnea, and functional orthodontics. He has had the pleasure of learning from multiple leaders including: George Eversaul, Barney Jankelson (Myotronics), Janet Travell, Lawrence Funt, James Pride, “Skip” Truitt, John Witzig, Richard Adams (San Jose Study Club), Jim Broadbent, Brendan Stack, Jay Gerber, Robert Kernott, Terrance Spahl, Jack Hockel, John Mew, Brock Rondeau, Barry Glassman (Bio Research), Derek Mahoney, Dwight Jennings, Robert Walker, Alan and Sauna McKee, Edward Spiegel, and Ellen Crean. Dr. DuHamel is a Diplomat of the American Academy of Dental Sleep Medicine and has been a member since 1996. He is a Fellow of the International College of Cranio-Mandibular Othopedics. He also is currently a Diplomat of the Academy of Clinical Sleep Disorder Disciplines and a member of the International Association of Orthodontics. In 1994 Dr. DuHamel associated with Alan and Sauna McKee and integrated myofunctional therapy into his office for the treatment of orhthodontic patients, cranio-mandibular disorders, and later, sleep patients. The Mckee’s have over 30 years experience in oral neuromuscular rehabilitation. In 1997 Dr. DuHamel developed the first prototypes of the OPAP for Doctor William Hart and in 2006 he opened an office in Lodi, California limited to dental sleep medicine. He began working on a solution for monitoring oral appliance therapy in 2007, which led to the founding of Sleep Connect Inc. Dr. DuHamel enjoys lecturing and training providers in the treatment of obstructive sleep apnea, crainio-mandibular disorders and myofunctional therapy. Through Sleep Connect Inc., Dr. DuHamel and Dr. Shrivastava have developed a comprehensive training program for providers wanting to incorporate dental sleep medicine into their practices. Dr. DuHamel is dedicated to enhancing the quality, efficiency, and financial success of offices treating obstructive sleep apnea and cranio-mandibular disorders.
